As your City Commissioner
I will work to:

  • Attract new businesses and create jobs

  • Improve city government

  • Diversify the tax base

  • Enhance library and recreational facilities

Let's Get Lawrence Moving!

My wife, Micki, and I are excited to be raising our family in my hometown, watching Spencer, Connor and Madeline enjoy the same things I loved as a kid, like KU game days and shopping on Mass St. But recently, I’ve watched with growing concern as complex problems arise in Lawrence that could threaten our community’s future:

  • 25 percent of our adult workforce leaves Lawrence to work. We must attract new employers and help existing Lawrence businesses thrive so we have a greater number of good jobs for our residents.

  • Our city’s planning process is fraught with problems. We need a city government that is fair, consistent and efficient.

  • We lack key amenities, like quality recreation facilities and a top-flight library. To build theses and other important facilities, we must expand the tax base and develop new long-term revenue sources (other than your property taxes!).
I’m a businessperson, not a politician.  But I think that’s what we need in City Hall now – someone who can wade through complex issues, create consensus and plan for the future. As your City Commissioner, I will be trustworthy and provide common-sense leadership for the betterment of all Lawrence residents.
